First Things First

"You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth." Kahlil Gibran

Brian and I are having a baby! We are super ecstatic to meet the little monster come August. I wanted to be able to share this journey with our family and dear friends who do not live near enough to see us on a regular basis.

Here's the run down thus far.....

Baby is about 13 weeks along now, about 3 inches long. My tummy is starting to pooch out, Brian loves it. I had a month and a half, perhaps two months of utter exhaustion. I literally did nothing but sat around all day and felt icky. I was also nauseous most of the time. Thankfully I'm not a "puker" so I was able to stay well nourished throughout those trying weeks.
For the last 3 weeks I've been feeling much better, I have most of my energy back and am not so disturbed by funky smells (excluding onion, ugh). I am so greatful that the hard period was so brief for me and that I am back on my feet feeling fine.

We have decided not to find out the babies gender, and look forward to the surprise. We already have a long list of names going.... I had to gently let Brian know that we aren't going to name our child Han Solo. We have a had a few requests for a registry so we started one but since there are only a few things on it I'll wait to let everyone know more about it.

Brian has been substitute teaching and it's really lightened our spirits to have him working. He's still waiting to hear back on a few engineering jobs and we are staying positive about it. We are both feeling so happy and blessed, and truly looking forward to becoming parents and starting a family.

Next step: A car that doesn't smell like exhaust (not to worry, our friend loaned us his Mustang so I haven't been breathing the horrid Ghia fumes) not to mention one couldn't fit a baby seat in the back or at least isn't a scooter. Then we have dreams of a house in the hills, with a big garden and chickens. Maybe we'll find one or maybe we will have my papa build us one.

  1. Glad you are feeling better. The time will pass quickly. I can see her now, blonde hair, blue eyes, amazing smile.
